Ion Counts
  1. Select solutions from the two drop-down menus.
  2. Press 'Start' to begin particle movement: any precipitates will sink to the bottom when two appropriate ions collide.
  3. Toggle 'Slow mode' to reduce the movement speed and make things clearer.
  4. Toggle 'Initial state' to show a snapshot of the starting positions of all of the ions.
  5. Toggle the 'Show magnifying glass' option to bring up a magnifying glass.
  6. Toggle the various equation buttons to show:
    • The word equation.
    • The overall balanced equation.
    • An equation showing all the ions involved, with an additional toggle to highlight the spectator ions.
    • An ionic equation omitting the spectator ions.
    • An additional toggle to show only the reactants, so that students can complete the products themselves.
